An Unforgettable Weekend in GenSan
Apr 13th
After hearing how guests were treated like royalty in GenSan by the gracious ‘Generals’ and having received an invitation from GenSantos.com‘s Avel Manansala to spend the weekend in GenSan, I coaxed Brendel into going to a weekend trip with me to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines.
Davao Food Appreciation Tour (Davao F.A.T.) 2009
Mar 17th
Over the weekend, Brendel and I joined bloggers from Manila, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos City in a food appreciation tour around Davao City.
This year’s edition, ably organized and generously sponsored by Davao Deli and Davao Foodie, is the second iteration of one of the most anticipated blogging events in Davao City.
Taj Minar Indian Restaurant and Bar
Jan 15th
I was off to another food trip with a small group of bloggers last night at Taj Minar Indian Restaurant and Bar.
The restaurant is located at the Damosa Gateway in Lanang, Davao City. When Brendel and I arrived, Damosa Gateway was brimming with people which also meant fewer to non-existent parking spots. It took me a good 15 minutes to find an available spot. Well, I guess its a testament at how popular this strip of bars, cafés, and restaurants is.
Taj Minar is the place to go if you have a liking for flavorful vegetable and meat dishes infused with a wonderful blend of herbs and spices. They serve appetizers, sidings, main courses, drinks, and desserts that are representative of Northern, Central, and Eastern Indian cuisine as I learned from their very informative website.
Steak ala Pobre at Karlyn’s
Dec 19th
I first had a taste of their much talked about Steak ala Pobre last month when my brother brought me there for a late lunch. Since that first visit, I have been back at Karlyn’s 3 more times in just a span of 3 weeks. Yes, their Steak ala Pobre is that good.

CAN-TEEN’s Tuna Tail in Vinegar & Ginger: The Fried Paksiw
Nov 4th

Growing up, isdang paksiw (fish in vinegar and ginger) has always been a regular fare in our family’s breakfast table. So, when Blogie, Brendel and I went to CAN-TEEN to have dinner last night, I wasn’t exactly thrilled in sampling their house specialty — the paksiw na buntot ng tuna (tuna tail in vinegar and ginger).
But boy, was I in for a delectable surprise!
Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant: A Restaurant with a View
Oct 28th

I have been to Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant a number of times before as one of the owners, Dr. Abella, is a long-time family friend. So when Avel Manansala of MBS2 invited me to have dinner with him and some Mindanao Bloggers at the Sarangani Highlands, I immediately accepted the invitation.
