Something to Think About
Jul 24th
Here’s an e-mail that has been circulating around for quite some time.
Nagmamahal,
Itang at InangP.S. Anak mag aral ka ng mabuti.
People often forward this to their contacts because they think it’s funny. I think it’s hilarious! But I also believe that this is a sad reflection of reality today.
Getting Down and Dirty with iPhone FW2.0 and App Store
Jul 21st
Thanks to the iPhone Dev Team, my first-gen iPhone is now running App Store apps courtesy of the unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2.0 firmware. After fiddling with it for a couple of hours, here’s what I found:
The Not-So-Good Stuff:
- iPhone FW2.0 is a bit sluggish compared to its predecesor, FW1.1.4
- MobileME is still very buggy. I added two contacts on the web version and it got pushed to my laptop a few minutes later and to my iPhone 10 minutes later. Not good considering it’s supposed to PUSH information instantly or at the very least after a few seconds.
- Some App Store apps are still very buggy causing it to quit suddenly and sometimes even cause the iPhone to reboot spontaneously.
- Still no flash support in Safari.
- Still no A2DP (wireless music streaming over Bluetooth) support.

Yes, the buzz you’ve been hearing is true. The band that energized the Philippine pop rock scene in the 90′s will be doing a reunion concert on August 30, 2008.
Oh and the best part? It’s gonna be FREE.
I know you want details, you’ll know more when I know more so keep an eye on this page.
I’ve Got My Game Face On
Jun 26th
The kid in me is kicking and screaming wanting to get out.
I have been browsing the interwebs lately and I learned that two of my all-time favorite games back in College are due for a much deserved re-incarnation this year.
Compaq Presario C794TU Laptop User Review
Jun 20th
As a gift to myself and to further my blogging, I decided to purchase a laptop.
The selection process was hard. I was torn between getting an Apple Macbook or a PC laptop. Financial constraints led me to stick it with a familiar friend — PC. This review is a bit long so I suggest watching this funny or annoying ad (depending on which side you’re on) as an ice breaker.
On to the actual review
Out of the box, the Compaq Presario C794TU notebook comes pre-installed with a licensed copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic. Initially, I was thinking of buying the lower model (C767TU) pre-installed with FreeDOS as I had concerns with Vista’s performance but went on to buy this higher-end model because of the faster processor and bigger hard drive capacity.
Dabbing My Hands at Web Design
Jun 8th
Back in my elementary days, I joined every art contest in school. I had two reasons for joining. One, I wanted to get away from the boring class lectures as our school conveniently excuses students who join school contests from any classroom work. Two, I had a misplaced belief that I had a hidden talent in art.
In college, I dabbled in “web-design” by editing existing webpages I downloaded from the internet. I really believed that I had a knack for art. But art didn’t agree with me.
Now, I’m 30 and my hidden talent remains hidden.
In a last ditch effort to bring out the hidden artist in me, I am writing this entry to join the book give-away contest at TurfSite Manila. The site is giving away a copy of the book Learning Web Design by Jennifer Niederst Robbins.
So, here’s to my becoming a web designer.
The Anatomy of My Brain
Jan 3rd
Since I was little, I was never a diary person but I always liked reading and envisioned my self to be writing for an audience some day. Yes, I was and still is some sort of a nerd. But leave all your preconceived notions of nerds at the door. I don’t look, walk, or talk like your stereo-typical nerd that hollywood tirelessly portrays in TV shows and movies.
My knack for writing, however, didn’t rear its ugly head until the internet introduced itself to me (more on my internet writing travails later). In school, I was never part any school publication although I always wanted to be a student journalist. You see, I’m the type of person who has a say on almost anything and everything under the sun (sort of a “know-it-all“) As everybody hates a know-it-all I’d like to think that I am more on the moderate kind.
Serving as my outlet and my podium this blog will be the medium where I express my thoughts tormenting anyone who mistakenly wanders into this side of the world wide web, of my take on anything and everything that comes under my watchful and often judging mind.
