Whenever my good friends Avel and Orman are in town, I drop whatever it is I’m doing and head out immediately to meet up with the fat and fab brothers from GenSan.

And every time we’re out, we’re almost always at a restaurant. Yes, food is best enjoyed with great company.

One of the few restaurants we’ve been to lately is Alor’s: A Home Kitchen.

Conveniently located along F. Torres Street, Alor’s serves delectable home-style meals in a cozy ambiance making it a top pick among the newest culinary destinations in Davao City.

Cheese Pimiento Appetizer

Heirloom Chicken Ring (Php 155)

They have a wide selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts making it the perfect venue for your next romantic dinner or family gathering.

Shrimp Gratin (Php 275)

Knock out Knuckles (Php 180)

ABBIE’S Roca Salad Php 195

Potato Shrimp Balls (Php 155)

We have practically tried almost all of Alor’s house specials and although everything was tasty, my personal favorites are the forty-clove chicken, golden rolls and Angus roast beef.

The forty-clove chicken really satisfied my cravings for garlicky pan-roasted chicken while the Angus roast beef with peppercorn gravy is as succulent as it is filling.

Angus Roast Beef (Php 1,000/kg)

The golden rolls, Alor’s version of the classic fried lumpia, is an appetizing medley of pork and vegetables wrapped in flour paper and fried to crunchy goodness.

For dessert, you’ll certainly love any of their chocolate or fruity treats. But if I may suggest, go for the chilled durian brazo. The layers of vanilla ice cream, durian flan and meringue is definitely a delightful surprise!
