Davao Food Appreciation Tour (Davao F.A.T.) 2010 – Day 1
When bloggers write about Davao, food and adventure almost always comes out as the main theme. That’s because good food and exhilarating adventures abound in this city of 1.3 million.
Recently, a select group of bloggers from Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos toured a number of Davao’s gastronomic and adventure destinations upon the invitation of Avatar Media.
Mam Bebs Bakeshop, a refreshment parlor owned by the family of blogger Andrew dela Serna, welcomed the participants with a sumptuous snack. Mam Bebs served their famous Pancit Palabok, Pork and Chicken Siopao, Potato Rolls, and Mango Squares.
Full and somewhat feeling sleepy from the food, the event hosts felt it was time to give the participants a preview of what the word, “adventure” means in Davao. Next up in their itinerary was the Davao Zorb Park.
For the uninitiated, a zorb is a giant ball or an orb, generally made of transparent plastic. People who go zorbing ride inside these giant orbs and roll downhill.
For dinner, the group headed to Pablo’s Steaks and Crabs where the participants got to try the resto’s newest offerings.
The participants feasted on samplers of Mussels Chowder, Insalata del Sol, Pablo’s Ceasar Salad, Sausage Platter of Hungarian, Frankfurter, and Beef Banger, Basil and Mint Pesto with Chili Fish, Shrimp in Garlic and Olive Oil, Chicken in Balsamic Barbeque Sauce, Boneless Chicken Steak, Grilled Maple and Mustard Barbeque Pork Chops with Honey Cinnamon Glazed Apples, Country Style Pork Chops, Cream Cheese Stuffed Chicken, Mushroon and Asparagus Beef Roll, and Pablo’s Pepper Steak. Cantaloupe and Honey Dew Shakes were also served.
Night cap was at a posh and cozy, Australian-inspired café called, Jose Rafael Fine Coffee. Several Davao Bloggers joined the group in enjoying the cafés mouthwatering jaffles, oz palabok, and their finest coffee and tea.
