Kalilangan Festival 2010 – Day 4 Highlights
Our Kalilangan Festival experience in the City of Generals was reaching its climax when Orman and Avel brought us to Marasa Grill, one of GenSan’s gastronomic pride. The place is owned and managed by Orman’s good friend, Ms. Kring Macion.
GenSan bloggers Sheng Dumalay and Ate Jinky Borela were also around along with their respective husbands, Ric and Kuya Arnel. They had in tow, travel bloggers from Manila led by dong ho.
Just like in the previous days… our day started with food, food, and more food.
Generously served before us was Marasa Grill’s best offerings which included the Tuna Sashimi, Tinolang Imbao, Grilled Tuna Belly, Grilled Panga, Fresh Eggplant Salad in Coconut Milk, Pinaputok na Tilapia, and Grilled Pork Chop among others.
And yet again, we dove in like there was no tomorrow. Sensing a pattern?
After thanking Ms. Kring Macion for the savory lunch, our group headed to Pioneer Avenue to catch the Street Dancing Competition.
When we arrived, the event was just getting underway but everyone’s excitement was very palpable. Despite the blistering heat, the crowds, both locals and visitors, showed up in droves and filled the streets.

And the contingents didn’t disappoint. They danced to their hearts content in their colorful attires with their respective musical ensemble pumping out beats that reverberated in every corner of GenSan’s historic Pioneer Avenue.
The pomp and pageantry culminated at the Oval Plaza where different contingents performed their respective interpretation of this year’s festival theme: “Honoring the Past, Understanding the Present, and Embracing the Future.”

Just as grand as it opened, this year’s festivities closed in style with a spectacular fireworks display that was a sight to behold. Cheers to GenSan and Happy 71st Anniversary to all the Generals!
My warmest congratulations to Kalilangan 2010 Festival Director, Orman O. Manansala, for a job well done. You and the Generals rock! Special thanks to Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Avel Manansala and the City Government of GenSan for the unrivaled hospitality.
Until next time, Magandang GenSan!

Do you know what I like about GenSan’s street dancing competition?
Akala mo napanood mo na lahat ng moves nila sa street. Meron pa palang tinatago na kakaibang presentation and choreography pagdating sa Oval Plaza.

You should have entered the photo contest lyle. You could give the generals a run for their winning money!
Thanks for all your posts on the kalilangan! Looking forward to the DFAT so we could return the favor.

I don’t think I stand a chance against GenSan photographers. Ibang klase ang shots nila. Just look at Leonard’s and Ariel’s photos.
Our kalilangan experience was awesome and very memorable. Thank you for having us.
