Just recently, I was in Sarangani with a small group of Davao and GenSan Bloggers upon the invitation of Sarangani Vice Governor Steve Solon and his blogger wife, Michelle.

The gracious couple hosted our group to a scrumptiously prepared lunch of grilled silver cod fish (Japanese gindara), steamed pompano, and roasted chicken at Lemlunay Dive Resort.

Lemlunay, we were told, is T’boli and B’laan for “Paradise” and judging from the breathtaking view and the wonderful underwater experience the resort offers, it is paradise indeed.

This fledgling dive resort in Maasim, Sarangani is somewhat laid-back with a restaurant area and only a few cottages and guest rooms available at the moment.  There is also no sandy beachfront typical of most beaches that most people are accustomed to. However, Lemlunay’s pristine greenish-blue waters, sprawling with beautiful marine life more than make up for the lack of  luxurious resort amenities.

Dive master and resort owner Paul Partridge tells us, while giving our group a tour in and around the property, that expansion plans are in the works. He says that they plan to build a swimming pool, function hall, and a few more cottages for those who want to enjoy a weekend family picnic.

The resort’s dive shop is called South Point Divers and they offer a number of services that suit hard-core divers and weekend enthusiasts alike. Activity offerings include PADI courses, snorkelling, and guided diving among others.

I have always wanted to experience diving. So, when we were asked if anybody wanted to try intro diving, I immediately volunteered and boy what a breath-taking experience that was. Five of us (Myself, Chattee, Blogie, Angel and Leonard) got to experience Sarangani’s underwater lemlunay. Avel, Brendel, and Jim opted to enjoy the serene view of the Sarangani Bay and the refreshing sea breeze at the resort’s al fresco restaurant.

Thanks to Dive master Joel Sarenas for expertly guiding us underwater. I had a blast swimming with Nemo and his friends — Yes, I’ve found him!
