iPhone 3G Now On Sale in the Philippines

Yup, the much talked about mobile phone in history is officially available in the Philippines starting today. Apple’s 2nd round of worldwide release for the iPhone 3G is today, August 22, 2008. The first worldwide release was last month, July 11.

While the excitement over the local release is more subdued mainly because of the prohibitive price tag of exclusive carrier Globe Telecom, there is a glimmer of hope for the financially-challenged pinoys out there.

WordCamp Here I Come

I was one of the attendees of the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit last year here in Davao City. I gotta say that the event was an enriching experience and was a great way to personally meet the who’s who of the pinoy blogosphere.

Anyway, I was browsing through the Mindanao Bloggers blog today to check out details on the upcoming 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit, which incidentally will be held in General Santos City, when I spotted a pleasant surprise:

iPhone 3G to Go on Sale in the Philippines on August 22

Steve Job’s 3G iPhones will officially go on sale locally on August 22, 2008 but don’t expect buyers to line-up outside Globe Telecom’s business centers.

The price for the both prepaid and postpaid units is prohibitively expensive, some people are calling it highway robbery.
